Our second day with Catherine Muller in Paris started with what appeared to be a traditional candelabra that turned out to be much more.
Design #1
Traditional candelabra stands lined the counter of our low workspace.
The list of flowers was another extravagant array with 5’ long viburnum branches and voluptuous peonies and hydrangea.
The final result was a gracefully blooming garden and battery- operated candles could be placed as candles. The asymmetrical branch placement at the base gives the design a naturalistic feel.
Design #2
Our second design, yet again, required us to disassemble the morning piece and we taped together glass cylinder vases to create a table design in an unexpected square shape.
Many of the flowers from the morning were used with shorter stems in the second design.
Multiple glass cylinder vases were taped together to begin the square shaped design.
The final result was a graceful soft design in an untraditional square form. Greens are placed in both directions around the cylinder vases.
Design #3
We are welcomed into the school with a tempting row of wonderful spring flowers.
The flower list included a list of lovely field flowers including lupines, astrantia, and nigella.
Green stakes were attached to a candle with tape.
In the final design flowers surround the candle. (Seemed a little dangerous to me!) but would make a dramatic presentation as a gift or with a battery-operated candle.
My careful cleaning and removing foliage from stems enhances the beautiful array of flowers.
The final bouquet shown on the Rue des Pyramides leaves the candle hidden as a surprise!
It was another fabulous day of flowers. Great lunch at a café down the street as well. We are becoming friends with the waitress. More to come next month.
Enjoy your summer flowers. I have lots to practice with from the garden.
Loving all of this, Jane! Thank you so much for sharing it with your myriad fans!!! Julie Spear🌺🌻🌸
